Darren Criss, who plays out-and-proud student Blaine Anderson on the Fox musical-comedy Glee, says he was “touched” by NewNowNext Award.
James Van Der Beek played host at Thursday's fourth annual show, which took place at the Avalon in Hollywood, California and will premiere on all-gay cabler Logo on Monday, April 11.
At the show, Criss won the Brink of Fame: Actor award. True Blood's Joe Manganiello was presented with the Because You're Hot award, while Lady Gaga took home the Always Next, Forever Now award.
In an interview with celebrity website Zap2it.com, the 24-year-old Criss said he was “touched” by the honor.
“It was my first legitimate – well, I don't want to say legitimate to negate any other awards I've ever gotten,” he said. “But it's the first time I'd been nominated with people that I was really kind of like – Oh, my God, Andrew Garfield, Donald Glover, Emma Stone – all these people who I think are awesome!”
“I don't know what to say, really,” he added. “I was really touched and surprised and thankful.”
